My HMS Testimony
- by Alicia Warren (HMS, 2006-2007)
Thus far HMS has been a true rainbow of colors that has
rejuvenated my past, present, and definitely my future. Although,
it has been a stretching period that causes growth, where
the four sides of your box (comfort zone) have been wrenched
from you and you are left to listen to the still small voice
of God alone to get you through the countless assignments,
and intense weekend ministry that you are involved in.
Another thing that has brought immense pleasure from this
years HMS program is the closeness of our HMS team itself.
From the first days together to right now, whether it was
climbing a mountain or jumping of a cliff into glacier water
or preparing for the annual HMS exam perfecting each inequality
to the best of our abilities.
We have been given so many opportunities this year alone
to stretch the loving arms of Christ out to people, whether
that be in Alberta or when we had our short term mission
to the North West Territories. And yet again, the HMS team
has been given the opportunity to yet again go overseas for
6 weeks of intense ministry that I believe will not only
change the lives of the people were ministry to but change
our lives as well, whether that be through music, teaching,
or just chilling' with some new friends.
During this past four months I have truly have felt the call
of God upon my live even stronger knowing full well that
God has called me to such a time as this, a perfect place
on this loving team where I have to the best of my ability
provided determination. Although I have faced some obstacles
through the loving arms of Christ wrapped tightly around
me I have been able to prevail against it.
I think the most important thing I have learned so far this
year is that regardless of what situation you're in communicate
with God through prayer and your life is bound to be changed
in a revolutionary way.
HMS is a true life changing stretching program that I know
God has placed me in, I sometimes feel that I have been impacted
in so many ways my the teaching and the hands on experience,
that I don't know whets about to hit me next, I guess only
time will tell ....
